Moving to Canada – Prince Edward Island Immigration

February 26, 2021BY Admin

Are you thinking of moving to Canada? one of the places to consider is Prince Edward Island, the coastal beauty of this place attracts people, but they prefer to stay because of our small-town feel, the lack of rush hours, the quick drives to work, the low crime rate and the quality of education.

PEI provides rewarding employment opportunities and a corporate culture that encourages entrepreneurs. Students from more than 60 nations come to PEI to experience first-class education. Higher education programs fulfil the demands of a skilled workforce with industry-specific programs and degrees in various fields. If you are moving to Canada to work, a work permit is required for individuals wishing to work in Canada who are neither Canadian citizens nor permanent Canada residents.

Prince Edward Island has published the details of its scheduled Express Entry draw on February 18.

A total of 121 invitations were issued by the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). Many of the invitations, 102, were issued to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. Business Impact candidates took the remaining 19, as long as they had a minimum threshold of 82.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) permits Canada’s provinces and territories to choose immigration candidates that suit their labour market needs. They are sometimes associated with the federal Express Entry system in Canada.

Moving to Canada – PEI PNP

The PEI PNPs Express Entry Category is an improved PNP, which means that it functions under Canada’s Government’s Express Entry system.

Express Entry handles applications for three types of economic immigration: The Federal Skilled Worker Programs, the Federal Skilled Trades Programs and the Canadian Experience Class.

A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is awarded to eligible candidates for work experience, education, age and language proficiency in French and English.

Express Entry candidates who received a provincial nomination get an additional 600 points added to their CRS score and are essentially guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence at a subsequent Express Entry draw.

Express Entry candidates need to build an EOI profile with the PEI PNP to be eligible for the PEI provincial nomination.

The EOI profiles are based on the province’s unique dot grid. The top-ranking candidates are then invited to apply through monthly draws.

The PEI PNP did not include an analysis of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited or the minimum EOI score needed for each category.

Labour Impact Category

The Labor Impact category refers to foreign nationals who have a credible job offer in the PEI and who have the support of their employer. It is divided into three streams: Skilled Workers, Critical Workers and International Graduates.  Candidates in this group must also submit an EOI profile to be considered for provincial nomination via the Labour Impact category.

Business Impact Category

The 19 candidates invited to participate in the Business Impact category required a minimum EOI score of 82. These invitations were allotted under the Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and run their business in PEI.
