In the latest Canada visa news, the details of the 18 March draw have been released by Prince Edward Island.
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program released 150 invitations in total. The majority of the invitations, 140 in all, were given to Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants. The remaining ten invitations were granted to Business Impact candidates who scored at least 70 points.
The PNPs allow Canada’s provinces and territories to pick immigration candidates that meet their labour market requirements. They sometimes correspond with Canada’s federal Express Entry scheme. This year, Canada hopes to admit 80,800 new immigrants through the PNPs.

Express Entry Stream for Prince Edward Island
Candidates already present in the federal Express Entry Pool are considered for a provincial nomination in P.E.I.’s Express Entry category.
A nomination of this sort adds 600 points to a candidate’s Extensive Ranking System (C.R.S.) score and practically guarantees an Invitation to Apply (I.T.A.) for Canadian immigration.
The P.E.I. Express Entry Category offers two paths to Canadian permanent residence: one for applicants who have a work offer and those who do not.
Category of PEI PNP Express Entry
The Express Entry Category of the PEI PNP is an improved PNP, which means it is compliant with the federal government’s Express Entry system.
Express Entry handles applications for three economic immigration programmes: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Qualified candidates are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (C.R.S.) score based on their age, job experience, education, and English or French language proficiency.
Express Entry candidates must build an EOI profile with the PEI PNP to be considered for a provincial nomination from P.E.I.
The province’s unique points grid is used to assign points to EOI profiles. The top scorers are then invited to apply via monthly draws.
The PEI PNP did not specify how many Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited for each group, nor did it specify the least EOI score requirements.
Labour Impact Category
The Labour Impact Category is for foreign nationals with a legitimate work offer in Prince Edward Island and employer support. There are three tracks: Professional Worker, Vital Worker, and Foreign Graduate.
To qualify for a provincial nomination via the Labour Impact Category, candidates in this category must also submit an Expression of Interest.
Business Impact Category
Candidates in the Business Impact Category must meet the minimum provincial score threshold to continue with their applications. Each draw has a different score. P.E.I. distributed the invitations for today’s draw under the Work Permit Stream, which is for international entrepreneurs who want to own and run a company on the island.
