Yukon Community Pilot (YCP)
NO IELTS, NO AGE LIMIT, NO WES REPORT, NO PROOF OF FUNDS, NO LMIA & NO CRS Calculator
A new stream of the Yukon Nominee Program, the Yukon Community Pilot (YCP) was launched in 2020 and will run for 3 years.
So lets talk a bit about Yukon. Yukon is a wonderful place to live with breathtaking wilderness, a wealth of opportunities, abundant natural resources and friendly welcoming people. The cost of living also is very low here.
For e.g. In Whitehorse, Yukon’s biggest city, you can expect to pay $750 per month for a bachelor apartment and $950 per month for a one-bedroom apartment. A room in a shared house should start around $500 per month. Hence more saving … less spending.
This program is unlike canada express entry has been designed specially for foreign workers. And unlike express entry candidates, weather your form India, Sri Lanka, Nepal , Bangladesh all with skilled work experience would be eligible to participate in this program and immigrate to canada and in the course of time gain canada permanent residency.
This program is also special especially for you if you have not qualified for any PNP or express entry pool or any other canadian immigration program. There is no CRS cut off score. Probably due to a low FSW score or EE score because of which they were unable to fulfil the requirements.
Another reason for the Yukon Community Pilot is the weather can get pretty harsh during the winters and 8 out of 12 months is very cold. This is the reason why business are facing labor shortage.
So in order for the economy of Yukon to continue the Govt of Yukon launched this program. The participating communities in this program are are Carcross, Carmacks, Dawson City, Haines Junction, Watson Lake, Whitehorse.
So who is eligible for this Program?
- You must intend to stay in one of the 6 communities that are participating in the pilot
- Have 2 or 3 job offers with a max of 3 employers to complete min 1 year or 1560 hrs of work experience in a single community
So how does this program work?
So this program lets you work for up to 3 different employers in one of the participating communities. Your work permit is valid for 2 years and more importantly you don’t need an LMIA.
- You need 1 fulltime offer or 2-3 part time offers to qualify – basically al should add up to 30 hrs per week
- The job must be non seasonal
- Min wage – $13.71 / hour
- Your past experience must show that you can perform the duties of the job (so you cannot be an accountant here and a cook in Yukon.
- IELTS – No language proficiency required
- All offers must be from the same community only and must be from the participating 6 communities
Now keep in mind after you get a work permit and after completing one year only then you can you get a PR
You Job offer can be unskilled too , eg NOC C or D will work too , however for NOC C or D your spouse will not receive a work permit.
Hence Try getting a job in NOC 0 A B, coz if this does not happen your spouse will not be able to travel with you and would only be able to come after you get your PR, then spousal sponsorship application .. so that would be approx. 3 years apart
So what is the Process
After you get your Job offer letter, you would need to apply for work permit. Your employer will give you two document which you need to attached to your work permit application
- A copy of the nomination letter from Yukon that confirms that the foreign national has been nominated for PR by Yukon
- A statement from Yukon that it has determined that all the factors or the issuance of a work permit have been meet, incl validity of job offer, employer docs etc.
Both these docs are very important an you employer will assist you with this document
After which 3 -6 months to get your work permit and fly to Canada
Now you have only got a work permit, you still have not got a PR, your PR is still pending approval.. this will take one to two years.
In case you loose you job during this duration Yukon province will help you find another job
